The sound of ILHEMENT: A vinyl collaboration with Milieu Mauri
The Core Collection, on record: ILHEMENT × MilieuMauri
A collection has a rhythm before it has a soundtrack. For the debut of its Core Collection, Swiss resortwear label ILHEMENT invited vinyl artist Milieu Mauri to find it.
The collaboration moves through tempos: spacious, ambient passages give way to faster records, shifting the energy of the room as they go. There is room for stillness, then a reason to move. It is an approach that suits ILHEMENT’s understanding of resort living, where an afternoon can become an evening without anyone checking the time.
Mauri’s contribution is personal. His selection draws on an ability to read a space and sense when its mood is ready to change. A record arrives, a transition opens something up, and the atmosphere takes another direction. The craft sits in those decisions as much as in the individual tracks.
For ILHEMENT, giving that role to a selector brings another creative perspective into the collection’s world. Sound shapes how people inhabit a room: how long they stay, what catches their attention and the pace at which they take things in. Inviting Mauri meant allowing someone else to influence that experience.
The collaboration took physical form at Zurich’s historic Zunfthaus zur Saffran, where Mauri recorded an exclusive live set during the Core Collection showcase. A Swiss resortwear collection, a historic city address and records drawn into a new sequence: each brought its own references to the evening.
Vinyl made the exchange tangible. Records were handled, played and heard together, with each choice belonging to that particular room and moment. For a collection introduced through touch, proportion and physical presence, it was a fitting medium.
This channel carries the collaboration beyond the showcase, beginning with the live recording from zur Saffran. Put it on and give it some time.
