Somewhere between the first bottle and the next record, everyone ends up on the pavement. A few glasses, loose conversations, no hurry to move on. Milan has a talent for this. ILHEMENT’s pajama party at Palinurobar settled straight into it.

In Città Studi, away from the city’s more choreographed fashion addresses, Palinurobar has built a following around wine, records and a crowd drawn to art and design. The wooden counter and wall panelling belong to the 1980s café that came before it. They stayed. The bottles, records and people brought another chapter.

There is confidence in keeping what works. It runs through the bar’s wine selection and the decision to hand the evening’s vinyl over to Milieumauri. A personal collection, a particular ear, one record following another. The kind of taste you come back for.

For ILHEMENT, the location made sense before anyone put on their pyjamas. The Swiss resortwear label’s world has always extended beyond a holiday destination. There is a little resort living in taking an ordinary evening off schedule, opening another bottle and finding yourself still outside hours later.

The pyjamas gave that mood a dress code. Familiar and slightly out of place on a Milanese pavement, they loosened things up without demanding much of anyone. Palinurobar supplied the rest: a room with its own history, a culture already in motion and regulars accustomed to someone bringing something interesting to the decks.

Fashion’s interest in listening bars has made vinyl a familiar part of the scenery. Here, the records had a job to do. Milieumauri’s selection sat alongside the wine and the conversations as a reason to stay.

That was the appeal of bringing ILHEMENT into this particular corner of Milan. The brand could become part of an evening people wanted to have anyway. Good taste, worn lightly.
