The day before the guests arrived, the rooms belonged to the camera. At Zurich’s Zunfthaus zur Saffran, ILHEMENT photographed its new collection, then opened the same doors for its showcase. The campaign became a place to enter, spend time and become part of.

For a Zurich-born label, the address carried particular meaning. The Saffran’s history belongs to the city’s merchants, whose trade included spices, textiles and other goods. Presenting Swiss resortwear here placed ILHEMENT within a local history of material, exchange and gathering.

The architecture gave the evening its proportions. In the main guildhall, a Régence-style walnut ceiling crowns the room, while a broad bank of windows looks towards the Rathaus and Limmatquai. The wood brings warmth; the windows connect the interior to the city around it.

ILHEMENT gravitates towards houses with a history of their own. Their names, materials and rituals give a collaboration something to respond to. At the Saffran, the intention was to let contemporary life inhabit that heritage while respecting the qualities that make it worth returning to.

The experience unfolded through small, connected details: the creak of timber underfoot, the scent of wood and flowers, a drink chosen to suit the occasion. Fabric felt between the fingers. Vinyl selected for ILHEMENT moving through the room. Floral arrangements drawing the eye through a space already rich in character.

Together, these choices made the collection’s world tangible. Guests stood where the campaign had been photographed a day earlier, encountering its atmosphere at their own pace. An image became a room; the people inside gave it another life.

Yet the most important detail was the welcome. Invited guests were greeted personally, by name. Within the formality of a historic house, that recognition created a sense of familiarity, the uncomplicated comfort of wearing pyjamas as a child, when feeling at home required very little thought.

That is hosting for ILHEMENT: considering every detail until someone else can simply settle in.
